Mick Felder...the memorial service of a wonderful friend...

Last Saturday, 8th December 2018, Dave Smith with his family and some friends organised a memorial service for Mick Felder in his business premises.. Felder's Body Shop ( a panel beaters shop to those in the UK, NZ & Australia ) at 210 Pacific Coast Hwy, Hermosa Beach, Cal. from 8am to 2pm with friends, family all invited to wander though the grounds to look at Micks life's collection of cars, motorcycles, memorabilia and partake of refreshments with a short service by a Salvation Army Officer.
Meaning so much to me I had to attend.... so caught the 11.25am United flight out of Sydney, Australia on the 8th, then by the quirk of the international date line, arrived into LAX at 6am still on the Saturday 8th where Larry Luce was waiting for me..only having a light backpack I was out of customs etc in no time... I had the rest of the day for Mick, my flight home being 10.25pm that same night, Sat.8th December.
We drove to the Ocean Diner on Aviation Drive where Mick always had what he called breakfast...coffee and time to do the crossword in the LA Times... a memory...

Larry sitting in "Mick's seat" and myself where I always sat when I visited him..
So lets have a photographic stroll through the day's activities and see the many Velocette friends, Rotarians, Hermosa Beach locals and just friends...
Mick's house close by in 2nd Street...

Mick was there......
 Dave Smith...Mick's nephew....

Dave's family and grand children...

Friends released two cages of white pigeons/doves in Mick's memory...after circling several times they flew off...

Later in the afternoon a continuation of the NA Velocette OC Christmas party continued at Ela and Larry Luce's house in Huntington Beach...
Come 7pm Larry and I were off to LAX where I boarded my flight back to Sydney, Australia , again by a quirk of the international date-line I flew into Sydney at 8.50am Monday 10th December...
This Saturday, 15th out of Sydney on a local Velocette Owners ride I've a small container with some of Mick's ashes.. Dave had pressed it into my hand..."Take some of Mick to Australia with you" he said....
So we'll stop in the bush and I'll sprinkle Mick into it... so he'll always be with us here in "OZ" ....
Vale Mick...my good friend...

A very moving tribute Dennis - worthy of the great guy that Mick was.
So pleased to know that a part of Mick's spirit will forever be with us, Downunder.

What a nice tribute Dennis! For those of us who could not attend it allowed us to capture the spirit of the day. Dave and Patty Jorgensen
