The 1929 IOM TT.... ML magnetos swept the pool. A look through a small ML publicity booklet of the time.....

Advertising by accessory manufacturers prior to the great depression resulted in many offering large sums of money as contingency money for the use of their products...hence the tables with the "trade barons" seated behind them at the weigh in for the IOM TT races.
They wanted to know what products you had on your racing motorcycle...often gave you money to fit their product and should you win gave further prize money.
So advertising of these products was rife.
Lets look at ML magnetos....
I've a little booklet they produced following the 1929 IOM TT races in which they did exceptionally well.....
We'll peruse it together...
To put us in the mood, lets get our tickets for the grand stand ...
OK they are for the 1930 event, but changed little...
Pretty pricey I would have thought considering a mans wages of the time....

In 1919 Smiths the instrument people bought out the issued capital of ML Magnetos.
Then around 1930 Joseph Lucas acquired the ML Magneto syndicate.
So I guess they became Lucas magnetos...
